EP 78: Don’t Make This Mistake When Manifesting

EP 78: Don’t Make This Mistake When Manifesting

I want to explore something that recently surfaced in my Dream Bigger Mastermind: the idea that when we’re manifesting something—be it the perfect job, a financial milestone, or any personal goal—we somehow think we need to be positive and upbeat every single second. One of my clients brought this up during a group call, and it’s such a common misconception. So, let’s talk about it honestly, because manifesting isn’t about forcing yourself to be in some impossibly high vibration all the time. It’s about being human, feeling what we feel, and still choosing to move forward.

This client of mine had been laid off earlier this year. She’d set an intention to manifest a job that truly aligned with her skills, values, and desired lifestyle. She was determined not to settle or act from a place of scarcity. Instead, she got clear on what she wanted and began taking steps toward this goal. However, months have passed, and she’s starting to lose patience. Doubts are creeping in. The initial excitement of “Yes, I’m on the right path!” is being tested by the reality that things don’t always happen on our preferred timeline. Sound familiar?

She came to our session feeling like maybe she was doing something wrong because her mood had dipped. She had a rough day, got triggered by some external factors, and instead of acknowledging these emotions, she felt guilty for not being positive. She immediately tried to “fix” it by forcing a smile, grabbing every tool to raise her vibe, and burying the discomfort. And that’s where we paused. Because here’s the thing: being human means we’re going to have those moments. Manifestation isn’t about never feeling frustrated, disappointed, or afraid. It’s about learning how to navigate these emotions so we can still move forward toward what we want.

Let’s use a personal example. Recently, I was selling a Black Friday offer with a clear goal in mind: I wanted to sell 10 spots. After I announced it, two people signed up right away—great! That gave my brain the reassurance that the offer was appealing. Then, for a while, nothing. Radio silence. The deadline I’d set in my head loomed over me, and I noticed my thoughts drifting into fear: “What if I don’t meet my goal?” In the past, I might have lowered my expectations just to avoid disappointment. But this time, I allowed myself to feel the discomfort. I acknowledged the disappointment, confusion, and even annoyance that surfaced. I didn’t make myself wrong for feeling it. I didn’t pretend that I was totally fine if it wasn’t true.

Instead, I processed those emotions and reminded myself that I have tools to help me regulate when I’m anxious, worried, or upset. For me, tapping (also known as the Emotional Freedom Technique or EFT) and breathwork are my go-to methods. When I felt my mind spiraling into negative scenarios, I paused, tapped through the acupressure points while stating my fears and reframing them, and then I took some deep, intentional breaths. This helped shift me out of that reactive state.

What’s key here is that I didn’t try to jump straight into a fake positive vibe. I gave space to the discomfort, and then used my tools to come back to a more grounded state. From there, I asked: “What’s in my control?” Instead of lowering my goal, I took inspired action. I sent more emails. I reached out personally to people who’d shown interest before. I followed up after the initial buzz had quieted down. I addressed concerns and objections openly and honestly. And guess what? In the end, I surpassed my goal—11 people signed up! It didn’t happen by pretending to be happy every second. It happened because I stayed in the game, acknowledged my feelings, regulated my nervous system, and kept taking action.

If you’re working toward a goal and feeling stuck, doubtful, or even ready to throw in the towel, here’s what I invite you to do:

  1. Acknowledge Your Feelings: Are you second-guessing yourself? Feeling frustrated or disappointed? Let yourself feel it. Emotions aren’t “bad.” They’re just information, feedback from your mind and body.

  2. Ask If You’ve Done Everything You Can: Take an honest look. Have you truly explored all your options? Have you reached out for help, contacted your network, or tried creative solutions? Often, we realize we haven’t done everything within our power yet.

  3. Don’t Go It Alone: It’s easy to isolate when we’re struggling. But support from others can be a game-changer. Ask friends, colleagues, family, or mentors for feedback or connections. If someone offers help—like reviewing your resume or introducing you to a hiring manager—lean into the discomfort of receiving that help. Resist the urge to push it away because you “should” be able to do it all on your own.

  4. Use Your Tools to Regulate: Maybe for you, it’s breathwork, journaling, a walk in nature, or tapping. Whatever helps you calm your nervous system and shift out of that panicked state will help you think more clearly and see the bigger picture.

  5. Revisit Your “Why”: Why are you aiming for this goal in the first place? Is it because you deserve a fulfilling job, a stable income, or a healthier environment? Remind yourself of your deeper “why,” and let that guide you through the tough moments.

Sometimes it might mean getting a temporary side gig to relieve financial pressure, or allowing yourself more time if you’re not ready to leap. There’s no shame in that. It doesn’t mean you’ve failed. It means you’re smart, resourceful, and patient enough to hold out for something that truly aligns with your vision.

I get it—acknowledging doubt can feel scary. You might worry that by entertaining those negative emotions, you’ll derail your manifestation. But the opposite is often true. By acknowledging them, you free up space for authenticity and resilience. Pretending everything is perfect when it’s not can drain your energy and undermine your self-trust. True manifesting involves building that trust, recognizing that you’ve handled tough things before and you will again.

As this year winds down, take some time to reflect on what you’re calling into your life. Give yourself permission to feel it all—the excitement, the anxiety, the frustration, the hope. It’s all part of the journey. And remember, we’re allowed to take breaks. I’m stepping away from the podcast for a couple of weeks to rest, reflect, and prepare for what’s next. When I return, I’ll have fresh energy, fresh ideas, and so much more to share with you as we embrace a new year.

In February, I’ll be opening the next round of the Dream Bigger Mastermind. If you’ve been circling around your goals, feeling stuck, or craving a supportive community, this might be your space. I can’t wait to help guide you through a process that involves honest emotion, real action, and ultimately, the manifestation of what you truly want.

Until then, take good care of yourself. Feel what you need to feel, let yourself be human, and keep taking those steps forward. Keep breathing, keep dreaming, and know that you’re capable of so much more than you realize. We’ve got this.
